How It Works

Five steps from the MCC to a maintenance decision

Every SAM4 diagnostic starts at the motor control cabinet and ends as a validated alert with a recommended action. Between those two points: edge processing, cellular transmission, cloud AI, and expert review. No sensors on the machine. No IT dependency.

End-to-end data flow

Five steps from signal to insight

From capture to recommended action, the SAM4 pipeline is built for industrial environments. Five stages, fully automated, fully managed.

01

Capture at the MCC

Current transformers (CTs) and voltage taps are installed at the motor control cabinet. They capture the electrical signature — current and voltage waveforms — of every connected AC motor. Installation takes less than 30 minutes per machine. No production shutdown.

02

Edge processing & cellular transmission

The Samotics gateway samples electrical signals at up to 96 kHz, performs local signal conditioning, and transmits compressed data via built-in 4G/LTE cellular. No connection to your corporate network.

03

Cloud analytics & AI

Electrical signatures are processed through AI models trained on thousands of industrial assets. The models detect anomalies, classify fault types, assess severity, and track degradation over time. New data continuously improves model accuracy.

04

Expert validation

Every AI-flagged anomaly is reviewed by a Samotics reliability engineer before an alert is sent. They confirm fault type, assess severity, write a specific recommended action, and estimate time to failure. Time-critical alerts are escalated immediately. Your team receives validated insights — not raw alerts to triage.

Engineer-validated · No false positives · Actionable recommendations
05

SAM4 dashboard & alerts

Validated diagnostics arrive in the SAM4 platform: asset health scores, fault alerts with severity and recommended actions, trend analysis, and fleet-level analytics. Alerts push to your CMMS via API integration so they reach the people who act on them.

Architecture

Built to pass your IT/OT security review

Traditional condition monitoring systems require corporate network access, on-premise servers, and IT involvement at every step. SAM4's architecture removes all three. Every design choice below exists to eliminate a common blocker.

Cellular connectivity

Data travels over 4G/LTE cellular. No connection to your corporate WiFi or LAN. No firewall rules. No VPN. No IT involvement for deployment. Where cellular signal is limited, Ethernet or WiFi connectivity is also supported.

Network isolation

The gateway operates on a completely isolated network path. No access to PLCs, SCADA, or operational technology. Data flows one way: from the gateway to the Samotics cloud.

Data residency & encryption

Processed and stored in compliance with GDPR and regional data residency requirements. Encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256).

API & CMMS integration

REST API connects to SAP PM, IBM Maximo, and custom dashboards. Alerts flow directly into existing work order processes.

No-downtime deployment

CT/VT clamps install at the MCC while the motor is running. No shutdown, no lockout/tagout. Less than 30 minutes per machine.

“Because SAM4 installs inside the motor control cabinet, we were able to deploy it across a large number of assets at minimal cost.”
